🤯 AI Now Writes 25% of Google’s Code

More than 25% of Google’s code is now crafted by AI—and CEO Sundar Pichai says this is just the beginning. During Alphabet’s recent earnings call, Pichai shared how the tech giant’s AI advancements are reshaping its operations, with AI not only coding but also driving productivity and efficiency. This is already paying off: Alphabet reported a strong Q3 performance, outpacing analysts' expectations, largely thanks to its booming cloud segment, which saw a 35% revenue increase over last year as AI offerings brought in new enterprise clients.

Alphabet’s AI impact extends beyond the cloud. For the first time, YouTube's ad and subscription revenue surpassed $50 billion over the past four quarters, complementing Google Search’s impressive $49.4 billion earnings. AI has become a game-changer in search as well, with new features resonating particularly well with younger users. Meanwhile, Alphabet’s headcount is down by over 1,000, as the company refines its workforce to prioritize AI-driven innovation. CFO Anat Ashkenazi emphasized that AI will streamline operations further, creating flexibility for capital allocation into promising new ventures.

⚖️ Downey Jr. Vows to Sue Marvel Over AI Iron Man

Source: Matthew Murphy

Robert Downey Jr. isn’t afraid to lawyer up—even after he’s gone—if Marvel ever uses AI to recreate his iconic Tony Stark character. On Kara Swisher's podcast, Downey humorously pledged to “sue all future executives” if they attempt an AI version of him, confident current Marvel leaders wouldn’t cross that line. The discussion emerged amidst rising concerns in Hollywood over AI’s impact on performers, with ongoing strikes and California’s recent law requiring actors' consent for AI recreations even posthumously.

Downey’s stance aligns with recent union moves, including SAG-AFTRA’s push for AI protections, spurred by last year’s TV and film strikes. Now starring on Broadway in McNeal, a play exploring AI, integrity, and creativity, Downey continues to question tech’s reach in the arts. He’ll also reappear in Marvel as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday in 2026, marking a return to the MCU on his terms.
