Oracle is making a surprising comeback in the AI era after missing out on the cloud computing boom. Its stock is up 34% this year, far exceeding competitors like Microsoft and Amazon. Oracle’s neutral position in the AI space has attracted big names like OpenAI, Nvidia, and Microsoft, all of which are using its cloud infrastructure for AI model training.
Oracle’s new data centers, optimized for AI, have played a key role in its recent success. However, analysts warn that this surge may be short-lived, as some clients are building their own data centers. While Oracle has gained momentum in AI, it may struggle to maintain its lead against larger competitors in the future.

A North Carolina man, Michael Smith, has been arrested for allegedly using AI to create fake bands and music, then racking up over $10 million in royalties by faking streams with bots. The Department of Justice says Smith, along with a music promoter and the CEO of an AI music company, cooked up thousands of AI-generated songs and manipulated platforms like Spotify and Apple Music to boost streams. Now, he's facing charges of money laundering and wire fraud, with a potential 20-year sentence for each count.
The seven-year scheme reportedly involved uploading AI-generated tracks with names like "Calms Scorching" and "Calypso Xored," while using bots to flood platforms with fake listens. These bogus streams led to big royalty payouts.
